I've done this 3 times now, so thought I would post a review. LRE Snowdonia / Landcraft (the franchisee) run a day out once a month where for a fee you can drive the 10,000 acres of private forests used in their LRE business. First time I went was in my Hippo on road tyres, 3 hippos split off into a separate group to run some less severe trails. Second time I was on AT tyres, so went with the main group, only missing a couple of trails where I didn't have the ground clearance needed. My most recent visit was in February this year, in the Hilux. The day kicks off with the (now standard) safety briefing at about 9am in Bala village. Then its off into the forests, finishing about 4pm. This time I was the only non Land Rover so was interested how I would compare. Good days' driving, some challenging trails, including a hairy descent where low box/1st gear barely held the beast back. We went down on the Saturday and did some lanes in the area, including the Wayfarer, the highest public road in Wales and stayed over ready to tackle Sunday after a full Welsh breakfast. Good points: driving trails you can't get to otherwise, local knowledge from their trainers. Bad points: a few participants hadn't really done much off roading so progress was a bit stop start at some stages, £50 price tag a bit steep. Overall: 8/10.

Same price as the Kielder Safari but sounds like it's a bit more challenging, I would love to have a bash at it but don't know when I will have the time, do you have a link to their website Ian ?

Not off the top of my head, but its David Mitchell's Landcraft company in Bala that runs it. As I've said they are the franchisees for LRE Snowdonia.
